During Q2 this year, OCIMF’s updated and enhanced Ship Inspection Report Programme (SIRE) will be launched. SIRE 2.0 will deliver a risk-based approach to assessing the quality of tankers and their crew on an ongoing basis and will significantly improve the marine industry’s ability to mitigate risk to people and the environment.

Work on the project continues in earnest and several key milestones will be completed over the coming weeks. To support industry in preparing for the transition to SIRE 2.0, the SIRE 2.0 Question Library, along with supporting documentation and guidance is now available, from here.

All users of the programme are strongly encouraged to take the time to review the documentation in full and follow the necessary Management of Change (MOC) actions detailed within.

The roll-out of further documentation, including specific guidance for Vessel Operators, Submitting Companies and Inspectors, is detailed in full in the SIRE 2.0 Programme Inspection Process Rollout Documentation - Timetable of Release.

Additional background information on SIRE 2.0, including a Frequently Asked Questions section, can be found on OCIMF’s website.

It is important to stress that while OCIMF develops SIRE 2.0, the existing SIRE programme will continue to be supported and improved, ensuring SIRE incorporates the latest industry standards, best practice and regulation.
