Welcome to OCIMF

The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) was formed in April 1970 in response to the growing public concern about marine pollution, particularly by oil. In the 50 years since, OCIMF has grown to become a leading authority on safety for the global marine industry, and today has over 100 member companies and consultancy status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Our mission is to lead the global marine industry in the promotion of safe and environmentally responsible transportation of crude oil, oil products, petrochemicals and gas, and to drive the same values in the management of related offshore marine operations. We do this by developing best practices in the design, construction and safe operation of tankers, barges and offshore vessels and their interfaces with terminals and considering human factors in everything we do.

Alongside an extensive publications’ library, OCIMF provides a portfolio of tools and inspection programmes used by vessel owners, operators, managers and charterers worldwide to enhance the safety of their operations. This includes the Ship Inspection Report (SIRE) Programme, Offshore Vessel Inspection Database (OVID) and the Marine Terminal Information System (MTIS).
