During Q2 this year, OCIMF’s updated and enhanced Ship Inspection Report Programme (SIRE) will be launched. SIRE 2.0 will deliver a risk-based approach to assessing the quality of tankers and their crew on an ongoing basis and will significantly improve the marine industry’s ability to mitigate risk to people and the environment.
The recent decision by the OCIMF Executive Committee to separate Submitting Company rights from OCIMF membership status necessitated the creation of a new set of requirements for becoming a Submitting Company. This is to ensure that OCIMF maintains sufficient governance control over its programmes.
The European Barge Inspection Scheme (EBIS) was transitioned into OCIMF’s Ship Inspection Report (SIRE) programme on 1 January 2021 to create a single barge inspection scheme within Europe.
